Our Commitment to Sustainability
Shure recognizes that environmental responsibility is important to our Associates, customers and partners worldwide. Our work has made a positive impact on the environment – such as converting equipment to rechargeable batteries that helps keep hundreds of thousands of batteries out of landfills each year – but we still have more work to do.
Our Products
People
Our Associates are ambassadors for environmental responsibility – making sure we are more eco-conscious at Company events by bringing reusable items like personal containers and water bottles, reducing other waste, recycling, and using Earth-friendly materials. These are additional ways we aim to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly workplace—indoors and out.
The people of Shure are our most sustainable resource. Our Associates work for many years at the Company because of the rewarding benefits. While Shure offers flexible work arrangements, many of our Associates choose to spend time in our beautifully designed offices. With nearly 40 locations spanning the globe – from London to Hong Kong to Chicago – our innovative offices create a welcoming atmosphere for our Associates and keep us closer to our customers and partners.
Shure is also committed to creating a work environment that allows every Associate to be their authentic self. We believe it’s our people, not just our products, that make us successful. Every story of every Associate has left a unique imprint on each product that bears the Shure name.
We honor the diversity of our teams through Associate Resource Groups, International Food Days, mentorship programs, and global awareness celebrations that are designed to promote pride and togetherness at every level. Our Associates also are involved in community recycling programs and volunteer programs, including ones that help clean up area parks and waterways.
Facilities
Many Shure spaces have been designed by world renowned architects to ensure we have well-designed workspaces that provide a good representation of our brand while allowing Associates to work comfortably and efficiently. In fact, the Shure Corporate Headquarters in Niles, Illinois, recently was named as a “Coolest Offices Award Winner” by Crain’s Chicago Business.
The headquarters also features natural light and an automated system to help reduce energy consumption. For natural inspiration, the campus includes Prairie Park – a garden filled with native plants to help Associates relax, reflect and feel closer to nature.
We take environmental responsibility at our global facilities seriously and are committed to ways to help reduce carbon footprints, such as improving recycling programs and implementing smarter lighting.
Our Community
Shure supports a number of global and locally-based organizations dedicated to sustainability efforts, including the National Resources Defense Council, whose global purpose is to “safeguard the earth — its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.” Their stated areas of work include: “climate change, communities, energy, food, health, oceans, water, the wild.”
In addition to those efforts, our Associates around the world have volunteered for environmental clean-up efforts in parks and rivers in Europe, Asia and North America.
Compliance
A cross-functional Shure team regularly reviews international regulations, directives, and standards to ensure environmental compliance with regulations like RoHS, REACH, and WEEE. The nature of these regulations promotes sustainable electronics and electronics manufacturing.
